The Planned Innovation, Research, and Technology (PIRT) District provides an opportunity to support the growing tech industry while projecting the iconic, rural setting of the Jordan Valley. Located in the growing Lehigh Valley, South Whitehall Township has been working with In-TOWN Design Studio over the last few years to develop design guidelines for their PIRT District and for Mixed Use Village and Residential Neighborhood zoning overlays in the Township’s Jordan Valley.

Promoting a unique blend of land uses, the PIRT aims to establish a hub for fostering technological innovation. In-TOWN created detailed design standards to to accommodate new uses & modernize zoning for South Whitehall’s industrial zone. The PIRT guidelines will allow developments to blend cohesively as a campus yet still maintain appropriate buffering and landscaping to surrounding incompatible uses. Diagrams and images were used to illustrate design standards presented in a simple, understandable format.
